Math Anyone?

Today the entire school will take a practice DSTP math test. Since this is such a departure for me from Language Arts, I am asking you to describe your relationship with math. How do you use math in your life and what do you think of math as a subject? What can you tell me about math that is very cool and what can you tell me about math that offers you a challenge?

Math Matters
Math matters to me. I use it in every day life every day. We use it to call people and to count caleries. Math does not challenge me in ways it does to most people. But it does challenge me in building objects and programming.
Compared to other subjects in school, I’m not very good at math. I don’t really view a mathematical world in my head but at least I can compute on paper! The only “cool” thing I can really say about math is that it comes up where you least expect it!
Math is a fun subject, math is all around us.
It’s my 2nd best subject. I love multiplying fractions but I hate adding and subtracting them.
I like math. I think it is something that we will use everyday. Any job you get you will most likely use math. I think the cool thing about math there is always one answer. In other subjects like social studies and LA it’s more of your opinion.
Math is a challenge because you really have to pay attention to understand it.
I don’t use math outside the math class. I don’t really like it that much but I’m pretty good at it. I think I should be put in algebra. I think equations are pretty cool and they’re easy too. Nothing really challenges me.
I think that math is a boring subject. My favorite subjects from best to worst are science, history, math, and then L.A, so math is # 3 out of the 4. I think that fractions are challenging and one cool thing about math is that you can buy a calculater to do the work for you
I like using math when I’m doing my favorite activity, soccer. In a game I calculate all the time about how far away a defender is and how long will it take to get to the ball. The distances to the goal and out of bound lines are also calculated. I think math is cool because I want to be a physical therapist or a stock broker.
Math is my favorite subject besides L.A. and science. We use math everyday and sometimes we don’t even know it. It fascinates me what you can learn in math too. The favorite thing I like about math is solving equations. They are really fun to solve if you know the easy way to do it. Plus I like adding and subtracting and multiplying fractions. They are really fun too! Math is something very important in our lives. In about basically every job you will work at you will need to know math. Math is something everybody will use no matter what.
Math Manner
Honestly, I’ve never really been a math person. But we use it all the time. In school, the money we spend, and even to find out what time it is. Sure I use it a lot, but I’ve never really gotten a kick out of math class.
I use math every day when we go out to eat and tip the waitress. I like math a lot but some times can be challenging. I like doing math problems, but do not like doing math problems.
Math is not my favorite subject in the world but i think im getting better at it. My favorite subject is science then history then L.A. then math.
I use math but dont like it.
Only in class and i don’t do do my work in class.

I am not great at math but I hold my own. I like challenging myself with math problems.
I don’t like math. I don’t use math in my life. I don’t like math as a subject. And there is nothing cool about math.
My relationship with math would have to be pretty good. I really like math. I think that it is pretty fun and easy(at times). I use math in my life to pass the 8th grade. If I didn’t know it I wouldn’t pass. The thing that I think is fun about math is MONEY. I like money a lot so I think dealing with money is fun.
Math is a very cool but challenging subject. Math is used everyday by almost every one. Personally I don’t like math but I’d be lost without it. The only reason I use math is to pass math class.
I think math is kind of, sort of okay. You see math everywhere…at home, walking down a street, at work, etc. The part of math I find challenging is all the graphing and plotting.
I find math very fun and I enjoy going to math class. I use math in my everyday life, such as adding up points at a wrestling match to see who won or even totaling my score on my science test. I think that one thing in math that is very cool is how people found out formulas for finding the area, perimeter, and the volume. In math the one thing that offers me a challenge is multiplying and dividing fractions.
Math is okay sometimes. Sometimes it just gets frustrating and useless but I know I’m going to have to use it eventually so I deal with it. I’m good at some of the problems but some just get too difficult and I want to quit (but I don’t). I’m best at equations, so to me those are fun. Other than I school I really don’t use math too often.
I think math is okay, but it hurts my brain!!! I know math is everywhere but I really don’t see the world as a giant math problem. I think math is something we will always need. I think math is the most important subject out of them all, even more than English. I think it is challenging when we graph and plot.
I don’t really like math that much. I haven’t used math in my life yet but I think I will. The only part I like about math is when I pass. I also think it is very challenging.
I don’t mind doing math, but sometimes it gets to complicating. Besides outside of school I don’t use it to much. I can be good at math when I want to but I slack some times. It gets really frustrating an I just want to give up but I don’t I keep going.
Math for me isn’t one of my favorite subjects to have in school. But without it I won’t be able to make it out in the world, so either way I don’t have a choice unless I want to do something with my future. But I can say one of the most interesting things in math I like to do is try to figure out multiplication problems. To me that can be something to use up my time to work with.

Math helps you in everything you do in life. You need to use math in all kinds of jobs for example a contractor has to use math to make sure the buildings are built correctly. If not he is out of a job. I like the subject of math only because I am pretty good at it also my dad is a math teacher so I better like it. My Relationship with math is cool I like math it is my favorite subject in school. I use every day in my life by just doing mental math, calculators, and sometimes using my fingers. I think my as a close friend because math is every were you go in life so you might as well live with it. I think math is cool by how you add, subtract, multiply, divide, square root, and so on and so forth. Math is a challenge for me by all of the problems and how you solve them.
My relationship with math is I do not like it but it is easy. It helps me work with money so, I make sure no one rips me off. Some of the stuff is not going be used in later on life so I really do not pay attention sometimes. I like the fact that I can understand some of the words but I feel I will not use them anymore after I finish schooling. The challenges math give are that it put but I find a way to stay awake. In addition, it is hard to help people to understand some of the problems.

When I think of math like a subject I think of multiplying, dividing, adding, and subtracting. I think math is cool because numbers are infinite. I like really like the hard questions with large numbers so I have to work at it harder and when I figure it out I am proud of my self.
I think that math is easy. If I did the work I could pass with flying colors. I use math when I am at the store so I don’t end up with a balance more than I have. Math is really useful to me so I think that math is easy.
Math is an okay subject I like it, but I would not say that my relationship in math is strong. I use math everyday like when I’m making bracelets. Math is cool like when I learn different things in math. Math is good to use in your life because math can help you with different jobs.
Math is my favorite subject. Although it doesn’t seem that you use math a lot you actually do. For example, when you buy something from a store, you are using math to decide how much money, your suppose to get back from the cashier. What I enjoy about math is solving problems. I like getting to the final answer and checking and seeing that it works. Math is something you are going to use through out your life. Whether it is managing your bank account, or how much an item is after a discount. Math is everywhere and you might as well accept it. Math matters.
I kind of like math. I use math every day in many ways, I just can’t remember how now. I like math when it is kind of hard but not that hard. It’s cool when it isn’t hard because it hard.
I use math in life when im dealing with numbers and stuff. Im not good at math but at least I try. I think that I would like math a lot better if I were good at it, but I might never be good at it so I might never like it. I do not really think that math is ever fun…..ever. I know that I will have to use math sometime in my life, but it will not be fun. If I had to rate math on a scale from 1-10 it would be like a 2 maybe. Math is challenging, and that’s probably why I don’t like it.
I like math. I think it is something that we will use everyday. I think the cool thing about math is that we learn a lot of staff about math like divide, fraction, multiply, subrating and add.
Math is one of my favorite subjects, I use it everyday. I think its a little challenging when I learn new things. I catch on when it’s explained better.
Even if we do not realize it, we all use math everyday.
We use it to tell time, we use it to cook and just figure out little things.
Honestly, math is a challenge for me.
I do not really find math cool for me, but I guess you could say it is.
Math for me is about money. I use money almost everyday. I and math don’t get a long. Really I’m not good at it. This year I think that im doing the best I ever have done. Math is fun when we do one or two things but when it drags on it is no longer fun.
I don’t understand the reason why we have two know algebra. I use math all the time but not most of the math that we learn today. I hate to admit this but some math is fun and some math is BORING!!!
I like math because I had a B plus average.I used to not like math because I didn’t used to get it.Also you need math in everyday life.
I myself do not like math. Math is hard for me to understand. When I am in class I always do badly on the math problems. Math offers me a challenge because I don’t understand it sometimes. I do use it everyday outside of school.
Math isn’t one of my favorite subjects, but I use it every day, like for example when I go shopping I like to estimate how much my bill will be.
I think that in the future students in schools will be lucky because they are going to have a lot more technology then we did when were in school. I think it will be easier to pay attention because the students might use computers more.
I think the schools of the future should be the same way they are now. They are safe places for students to learn and be progressive with their education. The only thing that would be a little different is the technology.
