Characters

Authors show characters’ personality traits in many ways. They can describe the way that they look, act, and think. They can also allow the character to talk to others (dialogue) and try to solve their own problems.

For today’s Book Review assignment, you will write an essay. First state the full title of your book and the author. Then describe a character in the AR book you are reading by telling two personality traits and the actions that support those traits. What change has this character gone through in the story?  Describe the character before the change and after the change. How do you relate to the character or not relate to the character?

Compose this using the two-column notes you created as a pre-write yesterday in class.  You may also use your book. Write the essay draft in WORD, then revise it and cut and paste it in the blog.

Next week you will be asked to read your classmates essays and blog three comments based on our writing rubric. What fun! When you think about it, there are so many characters in our lives!   Why not write, blog and think about characters in books and characters around us?

  1. Beauty

Father is an important park of this book. His changes were quick and drastic. He was a ship captain and had a lot of money. He had three daughters, Grace, Hope and Honour, and a very happy life. Father was forced to quit his job at the shipyard (he had a whole life there). Everyone loved him; he was a very nice man. One of his good workers, Gervain, fell in love with his middle daughter, Hope. Ger asked her father if he could marry her and he accepted, but with this decision, came consequences.

Since he had no job, he had to move where Gervain was born, along with his three daughters. They went from living in an 18-room mansion to a 4-room house. He moved out of the city and into country; from the coast and into the fields. It was a very big change for Father but he did it for his daughters who he loved with all his heart.

  2. The Glass Café
    Gary Paulsen

Tony Henson twelve years old and loves to draw. His mother Alice who prefers to be called Al, is an exotic dancer at the Kitty Kat Club. Tony starts going with his mom to work and draws pictures of the dancers there. He gives some of the drawings to Ms. Klein, his art teacher. She thinks they are wonderful and submits them in an art show.

One day while getting ready for work, Al receives a call from the state government. The Social Services Agency has seen her son’s pictures and are accusing her of letting Tony draw pictures of naked women. A few days later, she is arrested. I cant really relate to ether one of the characters, because I don’t have a mom that’s an exotic dancer. I also have not ever almost been taken away from my mom.

  3. Everything On A Waffle

In the book “Everything On A Waffle”, the character Uncle Jack is strong willed because he didn’t care what people thought about him and he was adventurous because he was a marine, so he traveled all over the place. During the story, he developed a huge change when his sister and brother-in-law become lost at sea and he has to take care of his niece, Primrose, all by himself. Before he had to take care of Primrose, he only thought about himself and his needs and wants. He never thought he would have to care about anyone else, so he mostly kept to himself. But, when he took in Primrose he realized that everything wasn’t always about him and he put most of his time into taking care of her every need and want. He wanted to make her stay with him as comfortable and relaxing as possible because of what she had been through. I relate to my character because I take care of my annoying, little sister all the time and I know what its like to not think for yourself.

    James and the Giant Peach
    ?

My character is James and he lives with his two aunts. There are many personality traits for him but two are courageous and kind. James is courageous because he knew that when the peach grew and he discovered the door on the side that if his aunts found out he would be in trouble. Also for when he climbed into the peach and it broke off and rolled into the ocean he had faith he would return home safely. He is also kind because he is constantly surrounded with the bad attitudes of his aunts but there bitterness doesn’t rub off on him. Despite all of that he manages to be a polite young man.
Before the peach grew and he went on his adventure he was lonely and treated with very little respect. When he returned from his long journey the town practically worshipped him. He also learned to provide for himself and when the town finished off the peach he carved his very own house out of the giant pit.
I can relate to this character because my name is James. Also I have had bad and good times in my life and no matter what happens I always pull through it and are happy again.

  5. My book is Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. The main character in this book is Brian. Brian grew up in New York City with his mom because his dad left when he was very young. His dad left to move to Canada. The book stars when he flies to see his dad in Canada. Before he gets on the plane his mother gives him a hatchet. They start to fly and then the pilot has a heart attack and crashes the plane. Brian gets out of the plane and swims to land and then he builds a fire. And once he gets to land he survives on the hatchet. Brian’s personal traits are brave and independent. The reason why I said that he is brave is he never gives up he always has hope for a rescue. And I said independent is he doesn’t rely on someone else to help him because there isn’t any one out there to help him. Brian changed by being mean and not caring about nature, to being very observant and noticing the littlest things because that is the only way that you can survive out there

    Penultimate Peril

The story I am reading is The Penultimate Peril. The character I chose is Violet Baudelaire. Violet’s personality traits are adroit and responsible. Action that supports adroit is she has a knack for inventing mechanical devices. Action that supports her being responsible are she has to look out for her siblings, make sure know body messes with them. A change that the character has gone through is she has become couscous since her parents died in a fire. Before the change, she had nothing to worry about. After the change, she had to worry about getting away from Count Olaf. I relate to this character because I to am responsible because I make sure nobody messes with my siblings.

    How to Eat Fried Worms

In the story Billy was focused, what I mean by that is his friends dared him to eat fried worms in 15 days. One worm a day for 15 days and if he was going to eat a worm a day for 15 days they would give him $ 50.00 dollars and he’ll have enough to buy that mini cycle that he wanted. That’s what I when I mean he is focused. I think Billy is cocky because to me in the story he seems spoiled and if he wants something he’ll stop at nothing to get it.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
    J.K. Rowling

The character in my book is Harry Potter, he is a boy who had to live with his mean relatives but he still manages to be a good boy. Harry is a nice boy because whenever his friends, Ron or Hermonie, need him he is there for them. Harry has gone through many changes such as, moving to a new school for witches and wizards, spending time with people that care about him, and finding out his parents died from an evil man that made him famous because he survived the attack. Harry has been at the school for two years so he is also finding out how to do new spells, he is finding out what is the best stuff for quitage, the sport he plays, and he is learning more and more about his enemy Voldamore

  9. Never Do Anything
    Crysta
    Core 2

Jamie is a daring and sneaky teenager; she is daring because she likes to try new things and she is sneaky because she was following Angeline around the store. Jamie didn’t really go through any changes at all. I think I and Jamie are alike because we both like to try new things like hair styles; I did too, only she didn’t cut all of hers off.

    Book Review

One of the characters in my book name is Paul. Paul is funny and very athletic. He likes telling jokes that he made up himself like jokes you here on a comedy show or something, but their not bad jokes. He play’s sports at his school like football, basketball, and track. He also won two awards in football, and basketball for having the most points that year.

My character through the beginning of the middle of the book starts to get called to clubs like boys and girls clubs to put on comedy shows for the kids and since he is in middle school, high school coaches for football and basketball are trying to get him a spot on the junior varsity team already. Before these changes he was having problems with his school work, but when the coaches from the high school came to recruit him, they promised that they would see to it that his grades stay on point.

This character only relates to me because he and I both play the same sports, except for track

    Vampire Plageus Paris 1850

The character Jack from the book Vampire Plagues 1850 is a lonesome homeless boy who lives at the docks of London as a docker earning whatever he can to survive. In the story Jack has many qualities that he has to put to the test. Just two of them are his strong minded instincts ad his skills to survive. He really has to show his instincts when he was being chased through town by vampires and he has to use his instincts to protect his friends and he has to use his survival skills to help his friend Ben eat and live while he was finding way home.

Jack’s life changed when the Coles took him in and actually gave him real meals for a couple of months and he becomes accustomed being rich and having three meals a day. Jack was the same before and after the change still with the survival instinct. He always knew when something was wrong or needed help . I relate to Jack because I am always willing to help someone and make sure they are alright.

  12. The Sister of the Traveling Pants
    Core 2

The book I am reading right now is The Sisterhood of the Traveling pants. Although there are five different characters in my book, the character with more of an interest to me is Bridget. One personal trait that Bridget has is she is very athlete. In the beginning of the story Bridget and her three other friends (Lena, Tibby, and Carmen) all go their separate ways after school lets out for the summer. Bridget goes to Baja, California for a soccer camp. At the camp many of Bridget’s personal traits are presented. One really important one that is a huge part in her character, she is determined. One example of her being determined is when she first arrives at the soccer camp and she notices a guy named Eric, which she likes. Throughout of the story Eric knows he can’t date Bridget because Bridget is five years younger than him and he stops flirting with her, but Bridget won’t. She continues to talk to Eric. Some changes Bridget has encountered is making new friends at soccer camp.

One thing that Bridget and I have in common is we both have attended a summer camp. The camp I have attended is Possum Point Player, an acting theater. Also like Bridget I have made friends from the camp.

  13. My book is Dirt Bike Racer by Matt Christopher. My main character is named Ron. Ron’s dad is a professional scuba diver, and wants his son Ron to follow in his footsteps. But Ron continuously says no because he just don’t like the water. He can’t swim, dive, or even flout, he says he can’t even sink the right way. He told his buddy Tony that he rather be in the dirt and mud then in the water. And he also told Tony that he likes and driving equipment. Tony said I know the perfect thing for you” Ron said “what” Tony said “dirt bikes”. Ron is like an easy going guy that just likes to chill. But if you get him angry Ron is surly to explode. The change that Ron has to go through is scuba diving with his dad to riding dirt bikes with his buddy. When he was scuba diving he was uptight and not funny. But after the change he was laidback and hilarious. I relate to the character so much it’s not even funny. I’m laidback, I’m funny, I love riding dirt bikes. This is a really good book that yes even you should read.

The Second Summer of the Sisterhood
The book that I’m reading is about four girls that share pants through out the summer. But the one girl that I decided to write about is Bridget. I decided to write about Bridget because she is different; you never know what she is going to do. First Bridget was in Mexico for soccer and now she is home, and she has a new journey. When Bridget was home for the second summer, she was in her house and she found letters that her grandmother wrote. Her new journey was to find her grandmother in Alabama and get to know her.

The traits that I would use to describe Bridget would be sensitive and strong.
I say that she is sensitive by she cries because she lost her mother.
I say that she is strong because she used to play soccer. She also has a strong heart. I relate to Bridget by I have also lost a parent and sometimes I cry.
I have a strong heart because I care about my family and friends. One of the changes that Bridget has gone through is that she used to, know what she wanted but now she’s not so sure.

  15. The Clique
    Core 2

Massie is a rich girl that lives in Octavian Country. She is spoiled and a snobby. She gets any thing she wants. She’s cool in school and everyone wants to be her friend. She has three best friends and she doesn’t plan on making new ones. (Besides the ninth graders). People also think she’s cool because of how she makes up stupid rhymes. One is “Did I ask you to take my temperature”, “Then why are you all up in my butt”. Every one thinks it’s funny.

She relates to me in my live. By being at school and people being mean when their in a bad mode. She also relates to me by saying things that don’t make seems.

    Twits

In the book Twits there is a family of monkey tormented by the Twits. One day the twits are going to town. The birds set the monkeys free and turn the twits house up side down. That’s when the monkey dad loses control and turns in to a control freak.

  17. Firestarter
    Core 3
    Amber

My characters nickname is Charlie. She is shy because, she barley ever talks to anyone but her dad. Charlie is special because, she can set things on fire without a lighter or matches. She changed when she was a baby. She used to set things on fire when her bottle was late or some little stuff like that. Now she’s scared to set things on fire. I can’t relate to Charlie because I don’t have any idea what she’s going through.

  18. Monster
    Core 3
    Patrick Upshur

In the story Monster the character Bobo goes on trial for robbery and murder. Before the change he was a good person. An action that supports this is Bobo helps the community of Brooklyn, New York. An addition Bobo has good grades in school; he was a c average student. Another trait Bobo had was to make poor choices. My action that supports this trait is he and his friends were involved with a murder. Another action that supports the trait is Bobo decided to go with his friends to rob a drugstore. I relate to Bobo by sometimes making bad choices.

  19. Star Wars Galaxy of Fear Ghost of the Jedi
    Core 3
    Jesse

The book I’m reading is Star Wars Galaxy of Fear Ghost of the Jedi, the author’s name is John Whitman. One of the main characters is Uncle Hoole he is very mysterious and brave.
He is very mysterious because he is a Shi’ido which is a species that can their shape and voice. He has a long and dark past that he keeps it a secret. He is brace because once again he is a Shi’ido so if someone is trying to hurt him or Zak and Tash he can change into a wookie to scare them he could also change into an imperial stormtrooper.
Hoole is a very cool guy who is like the best and probably one of the most unique species in the whole galaxy besides the anzaties species.

  20. Joey Pigza
    Core 3
    Taylor

The character in my book that I choose to do is Joey. One of Joey’s personality’s is that he is very hyper, and he can’t control his actions. Another personality of Joeys is that he is lovinglike for example his grandmother was very abusive towards Joey but he still went out of his way to make sure she was okay. Some of the changes that Joey went threw was that he went to a special education center and they found a medication to calm him down. Now Joey can sit and concentrate on his work. How I relate to Joey is by I don’t always think my actions threw just like him.

  21. Shari Chung
    Core 3
    Brian

The character Shari Chung is an average softball player. She never hit a ball into deep left field. Then she hit a homerun. Then she got on a three game hit streak. Then she became a lot better. It relate to the character because before I hit my first homerun in minor league I was an average player. Then after that I got to play all game every game.

  22. The Mouse and the Motorcycle
    Core 3
    Stepfon

The title of the book is called The Mouse and the Motorcycle written by Beverly Cleary. The main character I chose was Ralph S. Mouse because he is smart and friendly. He’s smart because he learned how to ride a bike. He’s friendly because he made friends with the human boy easily.

The change that happened was he was alone and then the family noticed he lived there. After the problem the boy keith and Ralph became good friends.

  23. Osceola
    Core 3
    Dark Hills Divide
Alexa is a short, brown haired, 12 year old that has a really big responsibility that she doesn’t know about and she doesn’t want to be apart of it. But later on in the story she realizes that she doesn’t have a choice so she participates any way. This shows that she is not loyal but she is very smart and she likes to read books.

  24. Kobe Bryant
    Core 3
    Dwan

Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest players in the NBA. Kobe grew up playing with his dad “jelly bean” Joe Bryant.
Kobe is a really smart player because he knows when to pass the ball and when to shoot the ball. Kobe is a very selfish player a point of time because he sometimes doesn’t pass the ball and he shoots much.

Kobe Bryant changed from an ok player into a great player because he practice hard and play harder.

  25. Title; A Series of Unfortunate Events; The Wide Window

    Author; Lemony Snicket

    Character; Violet Baudelaire

Violet is a very smart person for her age. Violet is always inventing things to get her and her siblings out of the never-ending trouble that they are always getting their selves into. She is also very brave. She is not afraid to take a chance and be courageous to stand up against Count Olaf, the villain.

  26. You Wrong For That!
    Core 3
    Stephanie

A character in the story that I am going to talk about name is Rhea. Two personality traits about this girl is she’s caring and shy. The action that support that she is shy is when she met this boy she didn’t really know who he was and one day they were talking on the phone and she was saying all this stuff and was being smart and everything. Then when they met in person they didn’t really say anything and they were shy towards each other. An action that tells she is caring is when her close friend had a baby by her husband and when her best friend had the baby she rushed to the emergency room just to be there while her friend had the baby.

A change that she went through was when she first met the man she was all shy and didn’t really speak then when she really got to know him she was opening up to him and really started to talk. So basically when she got to know him she started being herself instead of acting as though she was shy.
I relate to this character because when I first meet a new guy I am very shy around them and then when I get to know them I start opening up to them and I stop being shy. Another way that me and this character relate to each other is that we both don’t like when some one gets smart with us and we are both very easy people to make mad.

  27. B-More Careful
    Core 3
    Sha-Ray

In this book the main character is Netta. She had a very strong personality. Two of my favorite personality traits that she had were her honesty and she was high maintenance.

Netta was high maintenance because she believed that money was the only thing that could make her happy. Even if it meant going to extremes to get what she wanted. In the book she would prostitute herself for money to buy clothes and jewelry. She was also a gold digger.

I said Netta was honest because she always spoke what was on her mind. For example, in the book her and her friend had an argument and even though they were best friends Netta still did not bite her tongue when it came to telling how she felt about her friend.

The biggest change she went through was being beat up and almost killed by her ex boyfriend. This event caused Netta to think about her choices in life. She eventually stopped selling herself and gold digging older men 4 money.

I relate to Netta because I also say what’s on my mind and we’re both honest.

  28. Core 3
    Shawniece

The character I’m going to talk about is named Mimi. Her personalities were high maintenance and depressed. Mimi was high maintenance because she and her friends always had to have the newest thing that came out of Baltimore. She always was really nicely dressed. Mimi was depressed because always was looking for love in the wrong places after her twin brothers were in a lot of trouble. One was killed and the other in jail for life for the murder of his brothers killer. She also had a son and her son’s father didn’t take care of him. Mimi had to try and do it by herself until her mom helped her and took over her job. Mimi later began clubbing and getting high off of dope. That took over her life and she ended of sleeping with her best friend’s ex-boyfriend who was a big time drug dealer. Mimi ended up getting killed by her best friend and they later found out that it was actually her sister.

Mimi really doesn’t act like me because she had sex for dope and she didn’t take care of her son, and she let a boy that beat her best friend up come between their friendship. She never thought about her actions that had big time consequences. Mimi completely was changed for the worse. Her son had to be raised by her mom and Mimi couldn’t see him grow up because drugs had taken over her and she had been killed.

  29. We Beat the Street
    Care 3
    Ronnie

The title of my story is called we beat the streets. The character in this story is determined and thoughtful. I can tell that the character Rameck is determined because they are from the Dayton street projects located in newark, new jersey there is alot of bad things that happen to the boys but they still keep their heads up and finish school. I would describ the caracter Rameck thoughtful because when his mom doesnt have enough money to pay the rentso he went through a mess of trouble to get the money his self.

The character Rameck showed change because he went from private school where they talk out their problems, to apublic school where they solve their problem by fighting them out. I relate to this caracter Rameck because what ever I do I’m determined to do th best I can do

  30. “Backstage Pass”
    Core 4
    Kayla R.

Desert McGraw’s dad is a major rock star named Flesh in a band called Crossfire. She came to a new school, doesn’t know anyone and she especially doesn’t want anyone to know that her dad is Flesh.

Desert is very friendly and pretty calm. She is friendly by coming to a new school, not knowing anyone and making a new friend named Becca right away. The fact that she made a good friend that fast shows she is friendly and has a “friend” potential. She’s very nice too.

Desert is also calm. She came to her new high school and there is a lot of people who love her dad and his band and since she doesn’t want the news out, she remains very calm. She really doesn’t change that much throughout the book. When everyone did find out her dad is Flesh, she stayed relatively serene even though a lot of people wanted to be her friend.

  31. The Roar of The Crowd
    Core 4
    James C.

The book I read was “The Roar of The Crowd.” The main character, Manny, is an athletic and outgoing guy. He is athletic because he runs a lot. He played soccer and football. He’s outgoing because he works hard at everything he does. He never gives up and tries hard in school.

Manny went through a change from being the worst to almost the best. Before the change he never got to play, not even at practice. After the change he got to play in most of the games and practice. I relate to Manny because I work hard and start from the bottom of the chain and work my way up on everything I do.

  32. Knocked Out By My Nungas Nungas
    Core 4
    Danielle

In this book the main character is Georgia Nicholson, she is fifteen and from the U.K. My character is very outspoken she will tell you where, when, and how to do everything! Her mouth has got her in trouble many times. Her smart mouth is very unexpected because she is so bright and gets such good grades. During the story she actually gets a “b” and is very disappointed in herself. In this book she has changed because she is now kind of courteous and she may be polite if it’s a special occasion.

My character and I are very different because she refuses to play sports and she likes spending a lot of homework unlike me I like spending ten minutes or less on homework. There is one way we are alike and that is that we both have big, fat cats!!

  33. Jack on the Tracks
    Core 4
    Brittany B

Jack on the Tracks, is about a boy who is moving to his fathers new job location and has to adjust to new surroundings, which is very hard for a 5th grade boy. And nobody wants people to not like them, unless your weird, so he kind of went with the flow. For example when they went to the diner the waitress was a vegetarian and his dad ordered the “big steak” and to make the waitress like him he also said that he was a vegetarian. To top it off he is shy, and doesn’t stand up for him self, when Tack wanted to go to the railroad tracks to put toothpaste on the tracks for when the train passed by it would squirt out at them and they would have to dodge it, he said okay but he knew that he wasn’t aloud to go to the tracks and in his own stupidity the cat followed him out there and got killed by the train.

Jack changed in the story by starting to stick up for him self a little bit more and be his own person, I guess I sort of relate to Jack because I fold easily under pressure; but I try to stick up for myself on the occasion.

  34. Babe Ruth
    Core 4
    Lance

Babe Ruth was a very shy guy. He always wanted to play baseball but never signed up. Some changes that he had gone threw was that at a young age he couldn’t play baseball. Now that he has grown up (to me) he was the best baseball player ever.

So after he changed he became noticeable by major league teams and made it to the big times. Now I relate to the character because i am not that good at baseball and neither was he at my age.

  35. Shiloh
    Core 4
    Sammie

Shiloh is a book about a determined boy named Marty. Marty is trying as hard as he can to get a beagle named Shiloh from Judd Travers.

Marty is very determined in this book, he will do whatever it takes to get Shiloh from Judd Travers. Marty is also sensitive; he feels bad for Shiloh because he is always getting abused. Some how Marty out smarts Judd, and sneaks Shiloh out of his pen, so in a way he is smart too. Marty changed in this story by growing up; he acted more mature once he got Shiloh because he had a responsibility.

I relate to Marty because my old neighbor had about ten beagles and he abused them. Every once and awhile I would go over when he wasn’t home and sneak my favorite one out, Haylee. She had puppies two summers ago and my mommy and daddy let me get one, her name is Roxy, she just turned two on April first.

  36. The book I read was The Bridge to Terabithia. Jesse is the main character in this story. In the beginning of the book he is determined and isn’t very gutsy. He was determined because he got up every morning before everyone else to run and get better than anyone else in his school. He didn’t have any courage because he was scared to go to Terabithia because there was water underneath the rope that got him back and forth. He was scared he would fall and drown from lack of not ever learning how to swim.

The first day of school there is a new girl, Leslie, who beats him and he is no longer the fastest kid in school because he got beat by a girl. That doesn’t stop them from becoming inseparable friends. Together they imagine Terabithia and visit everyday until the rain comes and floods the creek underneath the rope to Terabithia. They don’t go to Terabithia for a while. One morning Jesse goes to Washington; while he was gone Leslie tries to go to Terabithia where she dies from hitting her head and drowns. When Jesse gets back he hears what happens and he is crushed. In the end he finds that Leslie left him with courage and strength.Towards the end of the story Jesse changes he is still very determined but he has gained courage.

  37. The Series of Unfortunate Events “The End”
    Core 4
    Derrick

Klaus is the book knowledgeable sibling of the three Baudelaires. He reads large books, knows many meanings of big words, and can easily research topics. Klaus is also caring. He always cares for his sisters, his parents, and even Count Olaf, the evil villain. One of the many changes of the lives of the characters in “The End” starts as the three siblings shipwreck along with Count Olaf on an island. On this island the Baudelaires have to wear white robes, get rid of many of their possessions, and eventually become parents of Kit Snicket’s child. Before many of these changes the Baudelaires were always in danger, couldn’t find their lost friends, and could never escape from the clutches of Count Olaf.

I relate to Klaus because I am also somewhat book knowledgeable and always care about everyone.

  38. How to Kill a Monster
    Core 4
    EJ

The main person is Gretchen and the action I Said about her is brave. The trait to support that is that she stand up to this monster that is trying to get her. The monster that keeps trying to get
Her lives on the same dark creepy swamp that her grandparents live on. The worse part is She and her stepbrother are staying at their house her grandfather Eddie is actually deaf. Her Grandmother rose likes to bake all the time. You Might think that things could not get worse right? WRONG! Because there is something wrong with their grandparents house. Another trait I said is careing because when the monster is chasing her stepbrother fell the monster was getting closer to him and he said just keep running. She said no and went back and helped him get up the way she had changed was she was always mean to every body now she is all nice.

  39. Raymond’s Run
    Core 1
    Cory

This book is about a mentally retarded kid that is a unique runner, and creative.
His unique way of running is his arms against his side, and his moth opened.
He likes to imagine himself driving a coach bus.

  40. Count OLaf- In the beginning he was a baby sitter for the Baudelaire children. HE really didn’t care for them though. But when Mr. Poe (the Baudelaire’s bank teller) told Count Olaf about their fortune he changed.
He starts trying to kill the Baudelaire’s for their fortune. Mr. Poe Found this out and moved the Baudelaire’s to their uncle’s house boarding schools and every where else. But, Count OLaf is still trying to get that fortune so, he dresses up to where ever the Baudelaire’s are. He will hurt anything that gets in his way. My character Bobby had a good personality but he had so much hate for his father. He left him and his mother when he was 10.
Two of his personality traits are non forgiving and smart. I think this because when his father left he never forgave him. His father just left one night. Bobby was sad and angry because he didn’t know what he did wrong and if he could have done something different would his father have stayed. He was also smart because he got good grades in school.

The character changed a lot through the book. At the beginning of the book he was very closed up and non forgiving. As the book went on he learned to open up and forgive the people that hurt him. I can relate to this person because I need to learn how to forgive people easier.

  42. Once Upon a Curse

Once Upon a Curse is a fictional story about responsibility, bravery, and is very humorous. The main character is Emmerelda. (Emma) Emma is a clumsy girl, and she’s always involved with everything around her. She’s very kind but sometimes she’s too kind; she never really stood up for herself. But, like most all book characters, she changes.

After finding out that she was the next “green witch” (a witchcraft tradition witch was passed down through her family) she starts taking on more responsibility for her actions. She begins to stand up for herself and others that need standing up for.

This story is about a young boy who has a lot of fears. This boy has a problem of always being late he would be late for every thing. One day he was not late and he caught his bus. Before he caught the bus he met a little girl who was scared of the bus, and he promised her he would protect her, but this bus ride would be different then others. The ride to school became bad when the boy got into a fight. The bus driver pulled over the bus and made them get off, but the boy would not get off. While the driver was talking to the other boy, two bank robbers took the bus. The boy stood up for every one and saved them all.
The boy made a lot of changes, like he was not late any more, and he stood up for himself and others. This boy changed a lot because he was scared of every thing, and he was never late. I think I relate to this character because I like to stand up for others.

  44. The Hatchet

“The Hatchet” is a book about a kid whose airplane crashed and landed in the middle of no where! The polite of the plane was killed in the crash and the boy had to survive on his own! He was stuck on the island with a limited supply of food! He had to find a way to catch fish, kill animals, and boil and cook on his own!

This character changed by adapting to the outdoors and learning how to do things on his own! Before he changed he didn’t know much about the outdoors or how to survive! I relate to this character because he knows and loves the outdoors! I am not like this character because I know a lot about the outdoors with out getting lost there!

  45. The book I read for my book review was cam Jansen the clown mystery. this books main character was named cam, she was a very brave an outgoing person. She was always getting in to mystery’s and usually solved them. She was so good at what she did because she could take pictures in her head which later helped her solve the mystery.

Cam never really went threw any changes she was always that same old brave girl.

  46. In my book Dannflor is a mouse. He is not the main character, but a very interesting character. He is shy and loves his family very much. His only family is his father, his mother died when he was very little. The only person he talks to is his dad that proves that he is very shy and that he loves his family.

    Artemis Fowl

    The Artic Incident

My book is Artemis Fowl and The Artic Incident. My character is Artemis Fowl. Artemis Fowl is a child prodigy, he beats basically everyone at there own game. Although he doesn’t do well in physical sports Artemis is VERY smart. He can beat chess champions in under 10 moves and is currently holds the title. Behind all this logic he has unmatchable cunning and wits. If you were to actually meet Artemis you would never know that this pale young adolescent is a criminal master mind. Artemis is known all around the world and has a file on dozens of police networks. At home Artemis lives in mansion and has loads of income to do whatever he wants to, from studying things to making plans for something criminal. Artemis also makes his own money through completing these criminal endeavors. Artemis even has his own butler who is also his body guard. I won’t go into detail about his butler just know one thing, he’s extremely dangerous. Now about the adventure Artemis embarks on. Artemis receives a transmission from the Russian mafia and it tells of Artemis’s father. The video shows a tortured man sitting with a sign telling his name. At this point Artemis is on a roller coaster of emotions and grows more cold and calculating than ever. He starts to make plans for an irrational attempt to rescue his father and his butler quickly stops him and tells him to think smart and don’t try to rush in. This emotion of anger and sadness stays throughout the story. After Artemis’s father is rescued Artemis returns to being cold to every one around him, but is just a tad bit nicer. I relate to this awesome character because I wouldn’t mind being him and doing the neat stuff he does. I especially wouldn’t mind going on those crazy adventures.
