  1. In the story “Wind On The River”, the main character Griff finds himself captured in a yankee prison wile fighting in the Civil War. He was in the prison for many months and then found his opertunity to get free. Yankee soldiers came around the prison asking the confederate prisoners random questions and if they answered them right then they had the opertunity to become a Yankee soldier. Griff passed the test and became a Yankee; his only problem was tat if the confederates found out that he was a trader he would be killed on the spot.

The issues that intrerested me….were the issues of war. This story doesn’t really relate to my life at all! I agree with his decision because i wouldn’t want to spend the rest of my life in a prison over being free and being on a different side.

  2. In my book ” Every thing on a Waffle” Primrose, the main character faces a major problem. Her parents are missing and noone beleives they are alive accept her.So her uncle gets custidy of her and they live on an old army base. At the end her parent come back and everything is good. I think the theme of this book is hope, Primrose never stopped hoping her parents are alive and they were.

The issues that itrested me in the book was when Primrose got hit by a truck and all she lost was a pinky toe. I cant really relate to that but i thought iti was interesting . But when she was in the hospital she was shocked she lost her pinky toe; if i were her i would just be glad thats all i lost.

Anne Frank The Diary of a Young Girl
    By: B. M. Mooyaart- doubleday
Born in 1929 in Germany, Anne Frank spent two years of her life in astonishing circumstances: she was hidden with seven other people in a nest of rooms in Amsterdam.
Her diary tells of the life of a group of Jews waiting in fear of discovery by the Nazis. Yet within it, a tender love story slowly unfolds- from her shy avoidances of a young man named Peter to their incessant glances and first kiss. Thus, her diary is not a lament but a song to life, no matter what the conditions, no matter what the threats

  4. My book is called a “A Raisen in The Sun”. The theme of this book is family. Everything. The family argued about in the book was about their family and even the times they were happy they talked about family. How this relates to my life is that most that is that if i argue about anything it is about family. And when i talk about other things like sports, people, things like that, family always shows up in the picture.

What i did agree on in this book is that nomatter what, family is most important.

    Where the Red Fern Grows
    By: Wilson Rawls

This book relate to my life by when I was younger I wanted a DOG but my mom said that a dog is a big responsibility for a boy my age and I was only 8 or 9 years old but I didn’t care ,and plus we lived in apartment. So when we moved out to our house my aunt got me a dog for my early birthday, and I was happy.

The issues I that I explored and was interested in was when he traveled that long way to get his dogs and all of those little boys stated to pick on him and his to dogs so he had to put up a fight. But I agree with the but with the book because I like the book.

    The Outsiders
    S.E. Hinton

This book is about three brothers that parents died in a car crash and are living together. Their names are Sodapop, Ponyboy, and Daryl. Sodapop is the oldest of the brothers and he takes most of the responsibilities. Sodapop and hid friends work at the local gas station to make money to support his brothers. Sodapop barely ever has time to spend with his brothers because he is the one providing for him and was working a lot to make money.

Pony boy goes to the movies often with his friends and this time he encountered two very pretty girls named Cherry and Marcia. They went over and started to talk to them but what they didn’t know was that they were the girlfriends of people in the Socs. After this they went to go sit down and they argued with Cherry. So the members of the gang saw them and started to come over to beat them up but they got up and ran away before they could catch them.

Daryl is the youngest brother and he has it the easy way. He if disappointed because his brother doesn’t have time to hang around with him and teach him new things. Also all his friends have brothers that play with them but its different with him, he feels like he’s missing out on all the fun.

I believe the author wrote this book because she was going through a similar situation in her life and wanted to express her feeling through a story for other people to read.

    Book Review
    The Jungle Book
    Rudyard Kipling

The Jungle Book is a book about a small boy that was born in a city, but his mother couldn’t take care of him so she made him a little raft and put him in it. She put the small boy in to a river that took him away to a jungle that was full of many different kinds of animals, some dangerous, some friendly, some funny, some scary. The animals that lived in the forest found him in the raft and brought him in to there family where he would be raised to think, eat, move, communicate, and fight like an animal.

The story is mostly the animals giving morals, and lessons to the small boy, which will help him to stay alive in the jungle. The boy learns many different lessons in the book which helped him in his life later on in the story. I liked this story because its funny and it teaches you a lot of lessons.

  8. The book that I just got finish reading is called The Sisterhood of The traveling Pants the author is Ann Brashares. Although there are four different main characters in this book the character that’s the most interesting to me is Carmen. The reason I like Carmen as a character in this book is because I can relate to what Carmen is feeling through out the book. For example in the book Carmen feels she can’t talk to her dad like she talks to her mom who she is always with. This action sometimes happens to me when my dad visits me sometimes I am afraid to show my feelings towards my dad because I don’t know how he is going to react. This is one of the conflicts that Carmen has to overcome. This problem is solved when Carmen finally gets the encouragement to tell how she feels. In this case Carmen finally tells her dad that she is mad that her dad didn’t tell her he was getting married until she arrived at his house. She is also mad that he is getting married.

The theme of the story is friendship. Friendship relates to me because I think friendship is really important. I thought it was interesting how the pants fit all four of the girls. Over all I think The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants is a very good book.

    The Glass Café

In my book the main characters name is Tony, and his mothers name is Al. He mainly just goes to school and comes home except for his friend Waylon which is he best friend and the girl that her likes Melissa Davidson. Some other people in the story that are important are Mrs. Klein the art teacher and Miles the drama teacher.

So far in the book Tony has found that he is a very good drawler. Well his art teacher brings in one of her art books to show to the class and in it was nude pictures of women and men. He becomes inspired and asks Al if he can go into work with her one night and draw some of the girls. She says yes so he goes in with her and studies all the girls: he noticed that some are sleeping and some putting on make-up, and others that were trying to eat before the next show. He draws a picture of one girl sleeping and one girl looking in the mirror with wind blowing in her hair.

Tony send brings his drawings in to show Mrs. Klein. She wasn’t there so he left the pictures on her desk. Mrs. Klein called Tony’s house one night and wanted to know if he would let her put them into a art show. He said yes, and when people found the drawings that he had drawn the government became very worried about the environment that Tony was growing up in. The government took Tony away from Al for a short time until she could fight hard enough to get him back. He later wrote a book about what had gone on in his life. That made him and his mom a little bit rich and a little bit famous.

  10. Beauty is a young woman, about 18, she got the nickname Beauty when she was a little girl. Father, Beauty’s dad, goes to the port to check on a couple of the ships because there was word that one of the ships crashed or sank. The only thing his daughter asked for was a rose so she could make a rose garden around the house. Father came back with several saddlebags full to the top, filled with very heavy items. He brought back a bag full of seeds for Beauty but was uneasy the night he returned home. The next day he explained to his daughters why the sadness.

The night before he returned home, he found his way into woods he did not know. It was blizzard conditions and he could not see a thing. He faintly saw a large structure and decided it could be a safe place to rest for the night. He rode out the next morning and passed a huge wall climbing with the largest roses he had ever seen. He picked one and a loud noise and steep shadow appeared behind him. It was the Beast. The Beast told Father that he must bring his daughter, Beauty, back to live. Father went on his way and told Beauty that he would go in her place, because he could not see his daughter die. However, there was nothing said about death. Beauty would not back down until her father let her go and stay with the Beast.

Beauty rode off into the woods to live with the Beast, one month after her father returned and at first was scared that there were no noises at the castle, no persons, and she felt all alone. Every night when she turned to her room, he asked her to marry him, and the answer was always the same… no. Now Beauty discovers that the Beast is not a scary being and is very nice, and is very hard for her to tell him no. She might be in love….

    Paris 1850
    Sebastian Rook

A problem that the character faced in this book was, people were dying from a sickness out of thin air. Ben and Jack knew what the problem was but they were afraid that know one would believe them so they took action for themselves. The sickness was actually from when vampires would bite into you. Then when you awoke almost all of your blood would be gone. You would live until your body just gave up on you and you would fall down dead. Ben knew how to solve the problem but he was going to need help. The way to solve the vampire problem was to slash all of the servants with a stem of a blood rose. Then to kill the leader you would have to make a potion from an ancient Mayan ritual that would send the god to hell for one thousand years.

The central theme of this book is to be able to trust your friends and never give up on give up on them or betray them. Always respect your elders and if someone has a red glow in the pupils of their eyes they are vampires. The theme relates to me because I am very fortunate to be able to have friends I can trust and elders that will help me. My favorite issue that was explored was when Jack was kidnapped by the vampires and his friends did whatever they could to get him back. I agreed with what they did to get Jack back because he was an essential part to the ritual they had to do to get rid of the vampire god.

    Where the Lilies Bloom
    Vera and Bill Cleaver

The book that I am reading is called Where the Lilies Bloom. The book is mainly about a family who goes through tragedies because their father is dieing. Their mother died many years before that so when he’s gone they won’t have parents to take care of them. The main characters in this book are Delova, Mary Call, Roy Luther and their father whose name is also Roy Luther. When their father dies the oldest sibling Delova, has to step up and take care of her younger brother and sister. Delova is only 19 years old, so that was a lot of weight on her shoulders to take care of her younger brother and sister. When the family is having money problems Delova tries to marry a rich man who her father told her to stay away from because all he would do is use her.

The theme of this story is never give up on your family because they are always going to be there for you. In the beginning none of the kids got along. But they didn’t realized what they had until it was gone. When they lost their father no one had anything to say because they just now realized that they took their father for granted. When Delova stepped up and told them that they need to get it together before one of them is gone. At the end of the story they all are happy with the way their life turned out to be.

I think this is a really good story for people who just lost a family member or just need a book to cheer them up when their in a bad mood. This book taught me that you should never take anything for granted.

I do recommend Where the Liles Bloom to anyone who is looking for a good book to read.

  13. Revenge of the Wannabes
    By: Lisi Harrison

My book is about 5 girls that have a lot of problems. They used to be best friend until one girl decides to start there own clique.

Massie is the most popular girl in school and finds out that her ex-friend is tiring to start her own clique. Claire is a girl that just moved in and has finally got in the clique, but when Massie finds out that them boy she likes, likes Claire and Claire likes him, she doesn’t wont Claire to see him. This problem is fought because Claire sees him and talks to him anyway. Alicia tries to start her on clique. When Massie finds out them get in a fight and never speaks toe her again. This relates to my because my friends and I always get in fights. I thought that this book is exciting because of the drama that’s in it.

  14. The book The Bad Beginning is about three orphans who’s parents died in a fire. The book is the first of a 13 book series. In this book the orphans, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny, have to stay with a relative that they’ve never met before called Count Olaf. He was terribly mean and made them do all kinds of work. Well they figured it out and Violet and Klaus were able to tell everyone and to stop the wedding before it was to late but Count Olaf got away in the end.

    Book Review #8

The book that I’m reading is about 4 girls and they all are going through changes in life. Through out the summer they stay in touch with a pair of pants. They pass the pants along with a letter, but the summer is filled with problems and one of the problems is with Bridget and it tells has she solved it too.

A problem in my book was that a girl named Bridget’s mother died and she found the letters that her grandmother wrote to her years ago. She no longer has contact with her, but she knows that she lives in Alabama. She told her father that she was going to see her grandmother and get connected again. Her father said no and they got in a big fight. So when the fight was over she packed her bags and was headed off to Alabama to get reunited. So the problem was that she was not aloud to go. It got solved by she went anyway and there was nothing that her father could say to changed her mind.

I would have to say that this book relates to me by one of my parents has passed and I have friends we talk to each other. But we will be going onto a different start with out each other. One thing that this is different we don’t pass pants. The way that we would stay in touch is to call, email, or see each other during the summer. But we are best friends and we won’t for get each other.

    Monster
    By: Walter Dean Myers

In the book monster the Bobo goes through court. Bobo and his friends went to court for murder and attempted robbery. The bad part about this is Bobo is a good kid that makes a stupid choice with his friends. The outcome of this story was Bobo was not guilty of all charges. Bobo’s friends were found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. The issues I found interesting in this book was why he made a very bad choice. The theme relates to me in life by sometimes making bad choices. Also what I found interesting was how Bobo changed his life after the verdict. I disagree why Bobo went with his friends because if he was smart he wouldn’t go with his friends to rob a pharmacy store.

  18. My book is about Kobe Bryant some problems that Kobe had was that his teammate shaq didn’t like him because of the way he played his game. Shaq and Kobe began to play as a team and won three champion ships together.

  19. My book was Ralph S. Mouse and the problem that he faced was in the beginning he was alone and didn’t have any friends in the hotel.

The problem was solved when he and the boy met while he was trying to eat some cheese. They became friends and the boy gave him a car.

  20. Socks
    Beverly Cleary

The problem in my book that the character faced was that the new kitten “socks” was the number in his owners life. Until the new baby was brought home and the cat never got any attention any more. The baby would torcher the little cat. The outcome of this was the cat learned to stay away from the baby so he didn’t get stuff thrown at him or on him.

This book relates to me and my life is because when I was a baby and was brought home my sister said I always got all the attention and they never gave her any. I agree with the cat on this because the baby was torchering it.

  21. The Hardy Boys #20 Mystery of the Flying Express

It relates to my life because I like the mystery books because they keep you think. I disagree with the gang following them but what can I do. The whole thin was interesting to me .

    Book Review #8

My book is called Goosebumps Bad Hare Day by R.L. Stine it is a good book so far. I just got two days ago I’m on the seventh chapter. It is about a person named Tim Swanson who wants to be a magician like his hero the Amazing Oz. He always goes to a shop on Bank Street who is owned by Mr.Mailk. He is a short bald guy. He gave two tickets to go see his hero at Midnight Mansion. His parents would not let him s he sneaks out.

  23. Book Review #8

The main character in the book is Alexa and the problem and her story is that some convicts are wondering outside of the walls that protect all of the towns. She could talk to animals and the animals helped her warn her father about the convicts and all of the convicts surrendered. A lot of bad things happened in this book but they were all solved and that’s just like my life.

  24. Firestarter
    By: Stephen King
One problem the characters face is that they have to run away. They run away because the main character went into an experiment when he was in collage. The woman he married was in the same experiment and they had a child and now the government wants to run tests on her, because she was affected by the experiment. The little girl killed her mom in a fire. The little girl has a power; her power is that she can light things on fire without anything she doesn’t have to touch it either. All she has to do is get upset or get mad. The problem hasn’t solved yet.
I cant relate to the book or the characters.

  25. In the book A Long Way from Chicago Joey and his sister, Mary Alice, are city slickers, go to see their Grandma Dowdel. She lives in a sleepy Illinois town.
The most important word in this story is “mischief” only because that’s all they do, the grandma, Joey and Mary.
The most important event was in August 1931, Joey, and Mary helped their grandma trespass, pinch property, and catch the sheriff, all in one day.
This is a very good book and I do recommend, it made me laugh out loud. the Grandmother was the funniest character of them all, she first acted clam and then later you found out that she was crazy and she liked to have fun, even if it met breaking the law.

  26. Joey Pigza Loses Control
    by:Jack Gantos

Joey Pigza Loses Control is a very touching book its about a boy with a attention disorder and he reunites with his dad and they teach each other many great aspects of life.
Storybook land is a very important thing in the story because that’s where his dad’s life was changed for ever. He had many memories there and he wanted to share them with his son. So he also could experience the greatness of storybook land.
When his dad takes him to see Humpty Dumpty in storybook land is a very important event in the story. Because that’s where his dad’s life was changed forever when he woke up there from a rough night of drinking. He realized that even though his past is bad he can still try to fix his life now. So he quit drinking and he tried to make up for everything he did to Joey, for not being there when he was growing up.
What confused me in this book was how could a man just up and leave his family. And then try and drink the pain away, why not call them sooner or send presents or write letters to them. Make a little bit of an effort to make is seem like you care a little bit.

  27. My book is called ‘Cell’ and it’s by Stephen King. It’s about a man who finds people are going crazy, after talking on their cell phones. His family is at home while he’s in Chicago and he’s trying to get to them to make sure they’re okay. He meets a friend named Tom and he’s a short man who cries a lot, but he’s feisty when he has to be. They find a hotel and take cover in there, when a girl named Alice needs help from a construction man who’s trying to kill her.

I haven’t read the whole thing yet, but it’s really good.

  28. The book i am reading is Dogsong, by Gary Paulsen. This book is about a boy named Russel who must take a team of dogs out to the norhtern countryside and spend 2 years in the artic with the dogs. He has to find his song, or meaning of life. He has to kill a polar bear with a bow to complete his meaning of life. Russel ends up living in the artic and living of the land for the rest of his life. I would recomend reading this book.

  29. In my book, Brian’s Hunt, Brian had to over come the challenge of finding food and eating it too. The problem gets solved by him going out into the woods at night with his bow and trying to find a small buck or a small animal. Then he would cook them up and eat them.
The theme of the book is a survival and adventure. The issues that I thought were interesting are when Brian had to find the bear and kill it because it had killed his friends’
Family. I agree with him when he had to hunt for food and try to survive on the wilderness because if you’re stranded in the middle of no where you need to find some way to survive.

  30. The name of my book is called how to kill a monster the main character is Gretchen she has a stepbrother named Clark. They both hated staying at their grandparents house their grandfather Eddie is very deaf. Their grandmother Rose is obsessed with baking. Also they live right in the middle of a dark, muddy swamp and that’s were the monster lives. You are probably thinking things can’t get worse right? Wrong because there is something weird about their grandparents house. There is something odd about the room upstairs the one that is locked. There are strange noises coming out of the room…

  31. I read the book Dial L for Loser. The main character Claire Lyons is competing with her best friend to get one of the lead parts in a movie called Dial L for Loser. Claire gets the part and it goes downhill from there. Claire and Massey are in a war. Massie gets a job as an anchor in a popular TV show The Daily Grind. Massie has to take viewers on a tour of the set of the new movie. Massie and her co-host both freeze up on the live portion of the show. Claire shows up and steals the show making Massie look bad. Massie is mad and wants pay her back. Massie jealousy keeps building up. Claire gets to hangout with all the best celebrities. It should be Massie in the spotlight. In the end they get mad at each other and become friends in the end.

The theme of this book is you shouldn’t be jealous of your friends you should be happy for your friends. The theme of this story relates to everyone because at one time or another you were envious of your friend. The issues that interested me were when the best friends got in a fight over the same reasons I did disagree with why they were fighting

I read the book, “It’s called a Breakup Because It’s Broken: The Smart Girl’s Break-Up Buddy”. This book was about breakups and advice. It didn’t really have “characters” but the two people who wrote the book, Greg and Amiira, went through their own breakups. They had a few stories about themselves and a lot of stories from other people. It had advice and even a few things they told you to do. They gave the readers challenges like a he-tox, where you go without talking to your ex for 60 days and other activities. The problem was solved for people by getting over stuff and going on with life. There were a lot of terrible stories and even one guy cheated and left his fiancé a few days before their wedding!

I really liked this book and a lot of the advice they give it very useful. I found a lot of the stories interesting and sad but that’s what keeps a reader entertained. I basically agree with the book and it’s nice that they have a book like that for the people that could use the help like that. There were a few things people may disagree with. They kind of gave you some orders in the book and told you not to be friends with your ex and to not talk to them. I agree but some people may not. They are telling you that for your own good. This really was a fantastic book.

  34. I read a book that was about a little boy who always failed in every thing and was scared of stuff. The problem in this story was when he got on the school bus, he meet a little girl and promised her dad he would take care of her. While they where riding to school the boy got onto a fight and the bus had to stop. while the bus stoped the bus was stolen by to bank robbers. The way the boy fixed the problem was by being brave and standing up for the other kids until the bus was finnaly stoped by the cops. This was a real good book but i forgot what it was called.

  35. The book I read was “Ghost I have Been” and i give it a 4 out of 5 stars. It described how life was in the early 1900’s but it gets confusing towards the end of the story. It’s about this little girl who has the second sight and uses her power to help peolpe out and find out frauds at the second sight. She gets in alot of trouble at school and weith her Mom. She cuts school alot to use her second sight. She at one points goes into a dark trance and was on the titanic and tried to safe this little boy but couldn’t and came back with his blanket and she and her mom became famous.

  36. Aaron Gehrt
You said I did not need to remember name of book.

In my book two brothers Jack and Chris parents die when their only 10 years old. They were both broke and have family to go to so they live the rest of their life on the streets of New York City.

Jack and Chris grow up with terrible conditions on the street. After three years on the street they finally go too an adoption house but never got adopted. As the years go on, the boys pay lots of attention in school and get s scholarship to Florida State. The way they left poverty was too believe and work hard in school.

I can relate because I love school and pay attention as much as I possible can. The life threatening issues were very high because they lived on the street for such a long time. I diffently disagree because I love being with family, friends and living in a house

  37. The book I have read for this review was called “It Takes Two, To Make a Liar” and this book really stimulated me a lot. A young fourteen year old girl, Elizabeth was stuck in a middle school rumor about her life. Elizabeth was not popular nor not the smartest in the world, but she was pleasing to the eye and spontaneous. She was a small child and got big nor did she develop a lot. People would stare at her and then came the bullying. Elizabeth was bullied about her weight and her tiny size. The whole entire school would call her anorexic and ugly. Elizabeth never was anorexic or ugly. All day she would hear and everyday the topic would be brought up in every class she was in. The rumor had started from her two best friends Jillian and Angela. Elizabeth had no true friends. Elizabeth had no where to go to, her friends betrayed her and talked behind her back and they did it because she was a out crowd and they didn’t want to be seen hanging out with Elizabeth in front of people so they just left her there in front of the whole school. After two months of bullying from everybody Elizabeth Danielle Higgins had killed herself because no one appreciated her and never knew her on the inside.

This book was something I had to face that was a true story and this connected to me because rumors are things that either aren’t real or just a lie. I agree with this book because people judge people in this world on appearance and its sad to see the people who are not the prettiest get left out of the crowd and become the victim in school or the target. This does relate to my life cause I have been bullied and I know what it is like to be hurt by the way you look or the clothes you wear and it’s devastating. The issues I find interesting in this book is that her own friends started the rumor that she was anorexic and she could not control it. It was Elizabeth’s own friends. Though this is a sad book, it is true life and I liked it.

Martin was a little mouse, but a slave under the rule of Badrang the Tyrant Stoat. The one day when he was sent to a pit in Badrang’s fortress known as Marshank. Unfortunately, that proved to be one of Badrang’s biggest mistakes that he could ever make. Down in the dank pit, Martin met Felldoh and Brome. Felldoh is a squirrel who is young but very strong. Felldoh’s father Barkjon was still inside Marshank. Brome is merely a child mouse whose sister is coming to save him. One of the problems Martin has to face is getting outside of the hole they are in to free all the captured slaves.
In order to get out, Martin had to communicate with all the outside slaves. An otter by the name of Keyla happened to stumble upon them. Through Keyla, Martin, Felldoh, and Brome were able to get their messages to outside creatures. Brome’s sister Laterose (a.k.a. Rose) set out to Marshank with her mole friend Grumm. At night Keyla and Rose had secret meetings to discuss a plan to free Martin. So, Rose uses Grumm as a digging tool to dig under the fortress and pop up in the prison pit. The plan is executed during the dead of night and the plan was a complete success.
I feel the central theme of Martin the Warrior is the friendship. Without friendship, Martin would have never gotten out of the hole without all the help he had. With that, Martin’s journey continues to stop Badrang’s tyranny.

My book “The birthday present mystery” was about a boy Tom that was just turning 10. And how it all started was it was a surprise birthday party and he kept trying to leave then when he walked in the living room to leave the lights turned on and everybody yelled surprise! Then his friend Brian’s mom walked in with the chocolate cake from the bakery. And that when everything started after they ate their cake and ice cream that’s when they opened the present then at the last minute Mr. Parks walked in and was like your uncle Jack stopped into the shop and told me to give this to you and tom was like I don’t have an Uncle Jack! And he was like I don’t know who it was then but they knew it was your birthday. Then tom was like but what about your shop and he said I closed it to come here and then he said well I guess ill get back to the shop because there are probably people waiting at the door to get in. So when he got back to the shop they’re were cops all around there and when he got up there he said what happened and the officer said that while he was gone somebody robbed his store and stole all of his radios and he was like oh my god they knew I was leaving . And then he went back to the birthday party and was like when I was gone somebody broke into the shop. And then the boys went to the bakery and the baker said the only person in the shop when Brian’s mom came in to get the cake was my brother and if you want to talk to him, he is staying at the rusty inn. So then they went their and when they got their he opened the door and boxes were everywhere so they went to tell the cops and when the got back to the inn he was loading the boxes and the cop opened one of the boxes and it was radios so that’s what his birth day present was a radio and so the mystery was solved.
