Plans for April
April showers bring may flowers but does it have to be this cold? Anyway, let’s start some word work this month with root words. We will look at the origin of words and have a shot at some new and interesting vocabulary so that you can prepare to be a stronger reader, writer and test taker. There are lots of little tricks that we will share. Former students tell me that the root word unit they did in 8th grade was one of the most valuable things that they learned.
April is poetry month (HURRAY!) and we will be writing and reading poetry using your knowledge of sensory language to enhance your poems. There is drama in your future as we take a look at plot in a play called “Trifles.”
A big sendoff to our wikimasters who will be presenting some of our tech stuff in Dover at the Tech Conference on April 18.
Try to find a favorite author and read more to be prepared for Book Reviews and reflection.
Happy Showers!
