Pre Write – Essay Personal Accomplishment
This is a brainstorm of ideas that helped me write an essay aobout when I went for National Board Certification
- Motivated by the challenge to test myself
- Thought that if I achieved this, it would be personally satisfying and professionally important
- Had big doubts about the process.
- Worried about the difficulty
- Struggled with the time.
- Struggled with the lessons and videotape.
- Roadblocks – no crew showed up to tape me.
- Eventually worked through the problems.
- Read the list of books.
- Took the exam at UD
- Waited thinking about how I would take over any failed parts.
- Opened the computer screen to find out I had achieved it.
- Floated around the rest of the day.
- Think differently of myself now – enjoy challenges and create new ones for myself.

When I was in 6th grade, I got mostly F’s. In 7th grade, I got mostly C’s and D’s. I needed more money and the only way I could get this was by getting A’s. Over summer vacation, my dad’s friend said he would give me $50 each report card for straight A’s. I stepped up to the challenge. When I got home, I started to study. Eight weeks later the 8th grade started and my grades became A’s and B’s.
